POSTPONED TO MAY, MORE TO COME!
On April 19, The Gauchos Asado Argentino and Twentieth Street Garden come together to host our fifth Domingo de Asado, an intimate, slow-burning Sunday gathering inspired by Argentine open-fire cooking. Rooted in tradition and hospitality, the afternoon unfolds around live fire, communal tables, and a thoughtfully paced seven-course meal. It is a celebration of intention over speed, abundance without excess, and the joy of lingering over food and conversation.
This collaboration between The Gauchos and The Garden is as an ever-evolving set menu inspired by asado classics, the seasons, and the ideas that come to us over a cerveza. The Gauchos focus on what they do best, selecting, preparing, and cooking quality cuts of meat, served with their classic family-recipe chimichurri. The Garden complements the experience with focaccia made in house, fresh seasonal salads and sides, and a rotating dessert to finish. At its heart, this is a partnership between friends, and we are delighted to have you join us.
Please plan to arrive promptly at 1:00 pm and allow approximately three hours to fully enjoy the seven-course experience.
Table wine, agua fresca, and still and sparkling water are included. You are welcome to bring your own bottle; there is no corkage fee.
Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. Please note that the bathroom is accessed via a short flight of four steps.
This is a 21+ event. While we love pets, we kindly ask that you leave them at home.
We look forward to welcoming you to the garden.

Open fire chef, entrepreneur, and sustainable food advocate Anya Fernald leads a tasting and workshop in open-fire cooking at Twentieth Street Garden. A portion of proceeds are in support of Nourish LA.
Anya honed her fire and ember cooking skills working on farms in Sicily and in Uruguay. She has spent decades working in artisan food and farming — starting her career as a cheesemaker in Europe, working for Slow Food in Italy, then starting and running a small farm produce distribution company, an artisan food festival and co-founding one of California’s most respected sustainable meat companies, and served as a judge of Food Network’s Iron Chef America for over 10 years. Her approach to cooking is grounded in the same philosophy throughout: start with exceptional ingredients and let the technique serve them.
The afternoon follows the natural arc of a fire. As the heat builds, peaks, and settles into embers, Anya will guide you through how to cook at each stage, from high-heat searing to low, slow ember cooking. You’ll learn to read a fire by feel, understand how live flame interacts with different cuts and ingredients, and build the kind of instinct that doesn’t rely on a recipe or a thermometer.
The session includes live demonstration, equipment walkthroughs, and plenty of time for Q&A. Dishes cooked throughout the afternoon will be shared as a light lunch. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Nourish LA.
Date: Saturday, May 16 from 11am-3pm
